EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories and PTSD. By using guided side-to-side eye movements (or other similar sensory stimulation), it allows the natural healing process to resume so that upsetting memories lose their painful emotional charge. Here’s a video and more information about EMDR (how it works, what it treats, etc.)
I have received my Basic Training Certificate in EMDR. This means I have completed 40 CEU hours that consists of lectures, videos, demonstrations, small group exercises, supervised practice, and consultation and am authorized to conduct EMDR with clients.
I am available to do EMDR therapy with clients both virtually and in-person. The research shows it works well in either setting.
